ITINERARY:

9.00 - Departure from Chernivtsi towards town of Hertza.

Arrival to the village of Molnytsia. Orphanage, supported and maintained by the monastery in Bancheny.
 
Visiting the complex of the Orthodox Holy Ascension Monastery of Bancheny.

Annunciation Cathedral with the Chapel of Reverend Kukshi, Holy Transfiguration Church. 

Church of the Intercession with the Underground Temple of St. Seraphim Sarovski, 65-m tall monastery bell tower.

St. Trinity Cathedral, refectory, cells of monks, monastery cemetery.

A free lunch can be served at the dining-hall of the monastery. Reservation in advance is needed.

The cafeteria near Banchen Monastery offers homemade pastries, honey and hot drinks.

Transfer to the village Bila Krynytsia. This village White Well since the first half of the XIX century has been the center of the Orthodox metropolitans of the Church of the Russian-Old Believers in Eastern Europe. Assumption Cathedral (1908), the Church of Kozma and Demian.

Departure to the village Kamianka, Hlyboka district. Visiting a private tropical greenhouse where they grow: bananas, tangerines, lemons, papaya, coffee-arabica and other exotic plants.

Or Visiting the apiary "Mivira" in Mykhailivka village. Sleeping of the bee-hives, honey tasting with tea and snacks. Departure to Chernivtsi.

Some of them were founded at the end of XV century, some were founded in the years of independence of Ukraine, others were founded only recently. We invite you to visit 2 unique Bukovinian monasteries - Bancheny and Bila-Krynytsya monasteries.

Holy Ascension Mens Monastery in Bancheny
 
Despite its recent founding - in 1996, this monastery is considered to be one of the largest and most beautiful monasteries in Ukraine. The monastery is located in Hertsa district of Chernivtsi region, over 80% of the district's population are ethnic Romanians. Distance from the monastery to the regional center - Chernivtsi - about 25 km. Here you will feel the atmosphere of Romanian village! Ascension Cathedral, Church of the Intercession, cells of monks, refectory, bell tower 65 m high (to be compared to the bell tower of Pochaiv Lavra). St. Trinity Cathedral is the largest and the most magnificent Orthodox church built in modern Ukraine.

Bila Krynytsia

The history of the Russian Old Believers Church is connected with this village. Russian Old Believers, escaping recruiting and religious persecution in the 70-ies of XVIII century fled south from Russian Empire. They have settled down in Bukovyna with the permission of the Austrian authorities. In 1830, a monastery was founded here, and Bila Krynytsia became the center of Old Believers and the seat of the Metropolitan. In 1901-1908, a magnificent pseudo-Russian cathedral was erected under the design of the Vienna architect Klik and at the expense of Moscow merchant G. Ovsyannikov (more than half a million gold ruble).
