9.00 - Departure from Chernivtsi to Khotyn. Please arrive 15 minutes earlier at - Central Square, 10 to ensure schedule met.

10.30 – Trip to Khotyn fortress. The exhibition includes medieval siege weapons and tools, a gallery of portraits of historical figures, art gallery and torture chamber.

Look forward to a beautiful view of the valley of the Dniester river.  

13.00 (approx.) Lunch - experience traditional Ukrainian cuisine.

After visiting lunch, we will go to the city Kamianets-Podilskyi to visit one more fortress, the oldest and partially funded by Pope Julius II.

We’ll spend our remaining time walking through the old town, visiting the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul ;  the archaeological museum and the exhibition of the fortress. Also we will visit the Museum of Kamianets-Podilskyi city about twentieth century history.,

18.00 - Return to Chernivtsi.

Description of objects:

Khotyn Fortress

One of the best preserved medieval fortresses from the eighteenth century  in Europe. Khotyn (first written mention in 1002) is located at a distance of 65 km. from Chernivtsi and 25 km. from the city Kamenets. With its fortress and favorable location Khotyn became a center of crafts and trade, which, in turn, contributed to the flourishing of their culture and economy. The city was an important point in EU-Asian trade. Located on the main highways, Khotyn has always attracted invaders. In order to protect the city the fortress was built. The city saw assaults from Ottoman soldiers, Cossacks leaders including Dmitry Vishnevetskogo (Bayda) and Peter Doroshenko. The fortress is associated with Ukrainian leaders: Daniel Galician, Stefan III,  Peter the Great, Konashevich Sagaydachnogo, Michael the Brave, Jan Sobieski, Peter I and Bohdan Khmelnytsky. The walls of the fortress of the main events unfolded Khotyn war and battle in 1621.

Kamianets-Podilskyi Fortress

This national historical and architectural reserve is one of the oldest in Ukraine. The total area of the reserve amounts to 121 hectares and has nearly 200 monuments. By creating a unique architectural appearance of the city in different periods of its history attracted craftsmen, architects and sculptors from Italy, the Netherlands, Armenia, Poland, France, Turkey and others. The composition of Kamenets fortress includes eleven towers, each of which has its own name and history. Thus, the highest tower Pontifical named because it was built on money sent by Pope Julius II. In the dungeons of the fortress, there is an exhibition, which reproduces pages of its history.
